MERCY CARE OUTREACH COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATION (CBO). HISTORY: “My sister, who lived in Ndabibi, had invited me to visit her. It was my time in the area. I was amazed by the great harvest they had that season and the good climate they were enjoying”. Before leaving, I enquired if I could get a piece of land to do some farming. “I got somebody to rent me an acre at an affordable rate”. The land at Ndabibi which was formerly owned by the Agricultural Development Corporation (ADC) was very fertile. Since I was interested in farming, together with my wife and children, We moved to Naivasha rented a house and started tiling the land. To make an extra coin, I started evening tuition for students in the area from my house. “I would help them to revise for two or three hours at a small fee. There were children who would come even without money but I nonetheless accommodated them. This helped me to easily interact with my neighbors and quickly become part of the community. For that I was concerned about the children when I noticed unkempt kids at Ndabibi Shopping Centre scavenging for food. ” After watching them for a while, I approached them and asked them if they were okay”. They said they were hungry and were looking for something to eat. I further enquired about their parents and they told me they were living with their grandparents as their parents had passed away. I enquired about these children and found out that their story was true. I also discovered that there were many other cases where children had been orphaned by HIV\AIDS. “I came to realize it was a major problem in the locality and no one was talking about it leave alone taking any action”. It’s then that I decided to approach the churches in the area and the chief to discuss the plight of these innocent children. However, while the church and the community were aware of the plight of these children, they were not willing to do something about it citing their own challenges. Not convinced that there was nothing that could be done, I came up with a feeding program idea where we could feed orphans and the vulnerable children in the area. I teamed with some of the community members and together we started MERCY CARE OUTREACH COMMUNITY BASED ORGANIZATION. MISSION: To nurture and mould every vulnerable child in the community to be responsible to global Dynamics through effective caring, teaching and protecting within value system of excellence, honestly, discipline and God fearing. VISION: To make Mercy Care outreach Community Based organization, a centre of hope in provision of holistic care, education for nurturing lifelong dreams in the community.
